What Is the Senior Volunteer Support Program?

The Group Home Alliance Senior Volunteer Support Program connects adults age 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities that strengthen housing stability and community support for seniors and other vulnerable adults.

Our volunteers support practical, on-the-ground needs—helping people find resources, complete referrals, and stay connected to services that protect independence and dignity.
Impact goal:
Increase community support and resource access so seniors can remain safe and independent longer.

Why It Matters

Why This Matters:

Older adults are increasingly targeted by scams and often lack support to navigate services, paperwork, and resource systems. When seniors don’t have guidance, small problems turn into big crises—missed benefits, unsafe housing situations, isolation, and preventable instability.

This program strengthens “aging in place” by pairing trusted volunteers with structured service activities that improve access to resources and community support.

Volunteer Roles

  • Fraud & Scam Prevention Support
Help seniors access trusted information, attend workshops, and connect to local reporting/resources.
  • Resource Navigation & Referrals
Support intake, assist with referral steps, and help community members connect with partner resources.
  • Outreach & Community Partnerships
Help expand relationships with libraries, senior centers, faith communities, and local agencies.
  • Workshop/Clinic Support
Support event setup, sign-in, materials, and participant follow-up.
  • Wellness Check-In Support
Structured check-ins and follow-ups to encourage connection and reduce isolation (not clinical—just community support).
