About Transitional Housing

What Is Transitional Housing?

Transitional housing provides short-term, supportive housing options for adults age 55+ who need stability while working toward long-term housing. Group Home Alliance helps eligible seniors and veterans access transitional housing through coordinated referrals, supportive services, and community partnerships across Metro Atlanta.

Our program is purpose-built for:

  • Seniors (55+) experiencing housing instability

  • Older adults with disabilities who can live independently

  • Senior veterans who need a safe, supportive bridge to permanent housing

  • Older adults leaving shelters, hospitals, or unsafe living situations

We provide a dignified, private, and stable environment while coordinating the resources they need for long-term success.

Program Highlights

Key features of transitional housing options accessed through GHA’s referral network include:

  • Private or Semi-Private Rooms designed for comfort and independence

  • Fully furnished units (bed, dresser, linens, essentials)

  • Utilities always included

  • Safety-screened environments

  • Supportive case management through partner agencies

  • Assistance accessing benefits and stable income (SSI, SSDI, VA, aging services)

  • Warm handoffs to long-term housing providers

Our goal is to ensure each senior has a quiet, stable place to recover and prepare for their next chapter.

How It Works

GHA uses a coordinated referral and intake process to connect seniors with transitional housing options that match their needs.

  1. Referral Received

A case manager or agency submits the referral.

  2. Eligibility & Safety Review

We confirm the senior can live independently and meets program requirements.

  3. Placement & Move-In

We prepare a clean, fully furnished room and coordinate a smooth move-in.

  4. Support & Navigation

Seniors receive benefit navigation, resource support, and long-term housing coordination through partner agencies.

  5. Transition to Permanent Housing

We work hand-in-hand with agencies to ensure each senior leaves with stability and a plan.
